I am in “Full Speed Ahead” mode right now. I started my morning with a quick bowl of Fiber One + 1% milk + coffee…

Then, headed to the hospital to teach a pre-surgery gastric bypass nutrition class.
After class, I grabbed a quick smoothie- Blueberry Heaven- on my way to the wellness center to prep for tonight’s weight loss class.

I spent an hour or so at the wellness center, and then rushed home for lunch. Leftover veggie soup + cornbread.

I had to really remind myself during lunch, “slow down and breathe”. Sometimes we rush so much through our meals that we need a conscious reminder to slow down. Do you ever find yourself speed-eating because of a busy schedule? If we rush our meals too much, our brain doesn’t have time to get the signal that we’re full, making it so easy to overeat. And, to walk away from our meal unsatisfied. I’m good at eating slowly at dinner and on the weekends, in fact, I’m usually the last one at the table still eating. But, breakfast and lunch on weekdays are my challenge.
Now, it’s back to work…busy night ahead – boot camp, then weight loss class. Have a great Monday!
I agree with you on taking time to eat. Sometimes I let myself get too hungry and don’t enjoy it as much, which leaves me unsatisfied.
Enjoy the rest of your Monday
Great reminder to slow down. I hope your Monday is going to slow down a bit soon (or at least the rest of the week).
I was so busy this morning that I walked out of the house at 6:30 without eating breakfast. And I didn’t realize that I hadn’t eaten anything until after I finished teaching my class at 9:00 a.m.! I made up for it and really enjoyed by oatmeal!
Have a great week, Angie!
I sometimes rush my meals and do find I’m still hungry afterwards and look for something else to eat.
Boy are you on the go today! All sounds like exciting stuff though.
I just love corn bread. Perfect on the side of soup!
Great point! I always inhale my lunch at work and I definitely need to slow down because I don’t feel full at the end. The fullness always sets in like a rock about 15 minutes later.
It’s so true. I used to be such a “Speed eater”, able to compete with the guys, and it’s because I was always in a rush. Now I take my time and actually enjoy my food (not to mention I burn my mouth much less, from the hot food!). I also feel better when I eat slower, maybe because I’m taking in less air?
Glad you had a great day Angie!
