About Angie, RD

i_00121
I am a Registered Dietitian and fitness instructor whose passion is sharing that eating well can be delicious, non-stressful, and fun. I’m not an athlete and I’m certainly not a rigid “dieter”, just a normal 30-something girl whose goals in life include love, health, happiness, and balance. I began “Angie’s Appetite for Life”  in April 2009 after falling in love with ‘Eat Like Me’ on Self.com and later ‘Kath Eats Real Food’.

I’ve been a dietitian for 9 years and I’ve spent that time working in wellness and weight management. Over the years, I’ve counseled so many patients and clients who believe they must starve themselves or follow some crazy diet to lose weight. I’ve worked with women who obsess over every bite of food that enters their mouth and have lost the joy in eating. My nutrition philosophy is focused on eating ”real” food and honoring our hunger and fullness cues.

I love all kinds of foods and enjoy balancing coffee, chocolate, red wine, pizza, and ice cream, with lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean meats. My hope with this blog is to inspire others to be passionate about food and to know that living a balanced, healthy life can include pizza, wine, chocolate and of course exercise!

My other goal in life is teaching women to love and honor their bodies. No body-bashing here. Let’s look at the positives and focus on taking care of our bodies with balanced nutrition, exercise, sleep, and time for self-care.

I got married to the love of my life in October 2008 and we are enjoying getting settled into married life. We both have demanding careers and busy lives,  so, like most everyone, it is often difficult to eat as healthy as we should and fit in regular exercise. We have been working more on cooking and eating at home and are constantly working on fitting exercise into our daily routines. I hope to share the ideas that work in my busy life, and also to learn from you. I’m far from perfect, but perfection is not my goal. My healthy life is definitely a work in progress. Thanks for reading.

Aw, be proud of your Southern accent. I’ve finally accepted mine after all these years. In fact, when bloggers put up videos and I learn that they have a Southern accent, I instantly like them more! There’s something comforting about familiarity.
